The Lighter Side of Christmas Parade began 29 years ago as a small, hometown parade in downtown Woodland Park, CO.
The event was managed for a number of years by the Woodland Park Chamber of Commerce.
In 2000, local residents John and Tracie Bennitt took over the parade reins. In the last 17 years, a committee of dedicated volunteers has formed to plan and organize the growing event. The LSOC committee meets monthly throughout the year brainstorming the annual event. Without the tireless efforts of these volunteers, the parade wouldn’t be enjoyed by 1000’s the first Saturday in December each year.
Each year a theme and beneficiary are chosen to best represent that year’s anniversaries and celebrations. Applications are accepted from local non profits and organizations to be considered. Monies raised through sponsorships each year stay local and help fund these deserving and hard working organizations.
