2021 Lighter Side of Christmas Parade is ON!

October 31, 2021 By LSOC Admin

Welcome to the 2021 Lighter Side of Christmas

This year’s theme:  “Season’s Readings!”

The annual Lighter Side of Christmas Parade and all the Holiday activities are back for 2021! This year’s parade will take place on Saturday, December 4, 2021. Our theme this year, “Season’s Readings,” gives participants an opportunity to celebrate the characters and stories in their favorite book. It’s SNOW secret! Books are COOL and ’tis the season to be reading.

2021 BENEFICIARIES

Teller Senior Coalition

Now in its 25th year, the Teller Senior Coalition Mission Statement is to provide services to Teller County senior citizens to enable them to live full, active, and independent lives. Teller Senior Coalition is an organization that helps seniors in Teller County age in place. They provide transportation, deliver meals to homebound seniors, provide homemaker services to keep their homes clean, case management counseling to address their issues and can install grab bars to keep them safe. Many seniors live in Teller County without family nearby, so the Teller Senior Coalition often becomes an advocate for our seniors. To learn more about the Teller Senior Coalition, visit https://tellerseniorcoalition.org.

Woodland Park Main Street (WPMS)

Woodland Park Main Street is part of a nationwide movement striving to revitalize historic buildings, foster community among businesses, and create a place where people feel connected. WPMS does not build, buy or finance new development. They are contributors. Through their status as a Designated Main Street organization, they have access to grant monies for historic preservation and downtown revitalization. Their goal is to work in collaboration with key partners and organizations in planning for the future of downtown Woodland Park. Their volunteers help make it all possible! If you’re located in the Main Street District, one of their representatives will be contacting you for your sponsorship this year. To learn more about WPMS visit https://wpmainstreet.org.

Woodland Park’s Christmas Vacation 2019

October 28, 2019 By LSOC Admin

2019 Theme: Woodland Park’s Christmas Vacation

This year we are celebrating the 31st Anniversary of the Lighter Side of Christmas Parade and the 30th anniversary of the classic comedy film, National Lampoon’s “Christmas Vacation.” As the holidays approach, Clark Griswold (Chevy Chase) wants to have a perfect family Christmas, so he pesters his wife, Ellen (Beverly D’Angelo), and children, as he tries to make sure everything is in line, including the tree and house decorations. However, things go awry quickly. His hick cousin, Eddie (Randy Quaid), and his family show up unplanned and start living in their camper on the Griswold property.

Our goal is to have fun, let our imaginations run wild, and have the best event EVER in our community. What’s the plan for your Christmas vacation?? Remember, this is the LIGHTER Side of Christmas … Have fun!

“Christmas in the Stars”. The 2018 LSOC Parade theme.

The Lighter Side of Christmas Parade Committee is in full swing planning for the 2018 Parade – “Christmas in the Stars.” This year we are celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Lighter Side of Christmas Parade.
Proceeds from this year’s event will benefit the LSOC Parade as well as the Ute Pass Honor Guard (American Legion, Eric V. Dickson Post 1980 and VFW, Thomas Kelly Post 6051) whose members have lead the LSOC parade for many years.

There are lots of celebrations surrounding space related films this year, including but not limited to: 2001: A Space Odyssey, Star Wars, Star Trek, Guardians of the Galaxy, Spaceballs, Avatar, WALL-E, The Fifth Element, Apollo 13, Lost in Space, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Space Jam, Men in Black, Stargate, Mars Attacks, Lost in Space, Muppets in Space, and a whole lot more! (Are you getting the picture here???) Our goal is to have fun, let our imaginations run wild, and have the best event EVER in our community.

We are continuing to increase our social media presence each year. Please be sure to like our Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/pages/Lighter-Side-of-Christmas. Also, share any holiday specials with us so we can help promote on our page.
